silverflight8: stacked old books (books)
I put up a stocking! It has so many exclamation marks and repetitions of the word "love" that it's faintly ridiculous, but I CARE NOT. I requested Kushiel's Legacy, Hawk of May, The Seventh Tower, The Ragwitch, Harry Potter (book or movie), and Marvel Cinematic Universe. *flutters eyelashes*

If you've never heard of the fest, it's a wonderful, low-pressure fest where people put up stockings, and other people write, make art for, or source stuff to "stuff" them. I put up one last year and got fic snippets, icons, and lots of sweet wishes, all from complete strangers. There's no limitation on fandoms/fandom sizes, so I encourage you all to sign up! The exchange opens after yuletide, too.

I also put up a post on kushielexchange for beta readers. If any of the Kushiel's Legacy fans on my flist were too busy/didn't want to do an exchange but did want to get involved, betaing would be awesome! This year it looks like the participants are all writers, so it'd be an editing proposition. Here is the post: http://kushielexchange.livejournal.com/2895.html

I'd just like to say thank you to whoever tagged all the code tours. dw-dev is chock full of posts, and tagging made it easy to search. (Also, [personal profile] azurelunatic, your curry commentary made me so hungry.)

NOTE: I started by referencing code tours, then discovered that haha, the bugs are linked difectly in bugzilla (and I have actually have access [!?]). So some of them refer directly to the correct bug and others don't.

also I read through something like fifty tours in one day, so it is totally posible that I missed things. Please comment if you noticed something!

reminder to self: retag with "dw support" after people have a chance to look through.

Mainly to avoid spamming denise on dw_docs. Things got more organized the more I typed. THINGS ARE LINKED LIKE EVERYWHERE BECAUSE OTHERWISE THIS WOULD BE WILDLY OUT OF HAND.

Things I noticed: (also I have come from LJ and have extensively used the FAQ for support and typed these up as notes, so if it's incomprehensible, tell me and I'll clarify) (also is quite long) )

And the FAQs to be edited )

I see this all the time in Support requests.

Please, if you have information that you think is sensitive, do not share it publicly on the internet. On LiveJournal and Dreamwidth, you have the option to flock or to make the entry private. Flock isn't perfect, but at least third-party search engines can't index it - they don't know it exists, period.

Do not put private, sensitive, or embarrassing information about yourself online, connected to your real name, unless you are fine with everyone around you knowing. There are people who, in high school, put all sorts of information out, and now are scrambling to delete it so that potential employers don't find it. Write it down offline. Privatize. Flock. Lock to custom friends groups.

Please do take precautions. In most cases as there are no TOS violations, LiveJournal support can't do a thing to delete your embarrassing entries if you forget your password/username. Most search engines won't delete the cache unless you delete it first from LiveJournal. There is nothing we can do.
