Hi everyone! I'm sorry I fell off the face of the internet. I'm back home now and am planning to finish (we are about halfway! Interesting things happen in this book and I like it a lot, so I'm going to keep going!) Last week we did chapter 26-30 and so I think next week we can do chapters 31-34.

I am about to go abroad for more than a month, departing next week (and will be travelling quite a bit) so I am not sure I will be able to do these weekly things. I should have internet most days I think, so I will still be responding to comments, but entries for new chapters will probably be sporadic. But do feel free to comment on past entries! The door is always open there.

Next week, from chapters 21-25 - unfortunately I did not actually look at the chapter layouts so we're going to do the last two chapters of the first volume and then three of the next, in one week. Oops. From "The cards of Marseilles" into Volume II's "Another magician". Apologies again for the delays!

Essentially I'm mad busy for the rest of the week and don't have two braincells or time to rub together to make the entry, so I'm going to post on Sunday the chapters 13-20.

Sorry about that!

Next week will be chapters 13-16.

Also for the record, there is really interesting discussion happening on both the dreamwidth and livejournal posts--feel free to pop over and/or comment on both, if you like; anonymous commenting is always on, and OpenID works too.

Very sorry for my lateness. (IT'S ONLY THE SECOND WEEK, SILVER). It was glorious outside yesterday so I actually loitered outdoors in the sun with a friend for hours and wasted time and...yes. Anyway.

From chapters Drawlight to A Gentleman with Thistle-Down Hair.

I'll put up a post every Sunday, I think! I make no promises on the time though; I'm so bad at that but I'll try to aim for morning (Eastern Standard Time or whatever idiocy we're currently on, Daylight Savings Eastern Time??)

To the people on my flist who are not interested, and because this will be a recurring thing--I am very sorry! On LJ I have tagged these entries "js&mn book club" so you can modify your friend settings re: me and choose not to see any posts with the tag. (Go to "modify friends" on my profile, select "exclude tag"). ETA: [personal profile] nou has pointed out that DW does have nifty similar features! Go to http://www.dreamwidth.org/manage/subscriptions/filters, select a filter, and exclude/include tags! (Among other things, if you have a paid journal.)

Chapter 1-4 for March 30, then! ("The Library at Hurtfew" to "The Friends of English Magic")And I will reply to comments for as long as the conversation goes on generally, so if you can't finish by Sunday or conked out or whatever, I'm happy to talk about it with you on Friday.

I'm rereading JS&MN at the moment (Norrell's running about with Drawlight in London; I'm not far in.) I wonder if there are enough JSMN fans on my flist to do a read along? Does anyone want to do a read along? There are about seventy chapters, so I could put up a post each week for chapters 1-5, or something. The details that are packed into footnotes means that any review or discussion I have of these books pretty much covers 1% of the novel.

(I'm totally fine with any of you guys spreading this/people dropping in to chat, and I'm happy to do it even if only one other person wants to. I really love this book.)
