So Eddis/Sophos is cute in a distant sort of way; I'm not sure I quite ship them. Then again, Attolia/Gen didn't take me till later either.

The POV changes were distracting and I don't think I quite got everything. That's mostly because they stand in contrast to the previous three books, which I re-read until they were threadbare in April (it was stressful and I just read them a lot). I often end up skipping some of the political stuff and go back to read them later; only the really big things--like omg Gen's ploy with kidnapping Attolia--really sticking to me at first.

Very little Attolia, sadly. And not much Gen either. I hope the next book has more of them!

I find the mountain blowing up really sad, because it means Eddis is losing its sovereignty. Intellectually I know that sovereignty isn't the end all and be all, and the EU is a really interesting case of the opposite, but the instinctual reading of it is to go "nooo no, that's the end, that's the end". It's like the Medes, sort of. At least, that is the conclusion I took from Eddis' deciding to swear to Attolia.

Also I'm just really fond of the mountains (personally) and it's clear the other characters love it too, so having to move away makes me sad. On the other hand you can't exactly fault Eddis for trying to avoid Pompeii 2.0 (or maybe 1.0). It's not like she's doing it for kicks.

... to parse the source code, but there's something wrong with the cut. When it's on my Friends page (but strangely, not when I've opened your entry directly, it leads me to: http://ed-rex.livejournal.com/friends#)."

It should--it's supposed to open without needing to load a new page. What you get when you mouseover should just be the address of the page you're on plus a #. Are you able to open the cut though?

Yes, when I clicked "link" to take me directly to your page. When I clicked it on my friends' page (as is my wont, so there is a way around it), it merely added the # to the /friends URL.

It's weird that the cut won't open for you. Hmph. It's not like an LJ cut though; that opens inline too, but clicking (an lj cut) will take you to the page while this cut (spoiler cut) won't.

As I said (and think you understood, but just making sure), it works once I've opened your item, but not when on my friends' page.

I wasn't aware of the spoiler-cut, though. Presumably that's when I've encountered the issue before.

Possibly a Firefox and/or Linux glitch.

Bizarre. Maybe an addon thing though.

I find spoiler cuts really useful because they don't automatically open when you click the entry link (so you can link someone to a post and the spoilers will stay hidden.) You can also use them in comments!

Doesn't work so well when it doesn't open though. D:
