oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh. fascinating. :D:D:D:D These days I just assume everybody speaks Mandarin. xD

I am a heritage speaker of the dialect, but I think pretty much a L2 learner for Mandarin which gives me cred but is not usefullllll outside of, you know, the province ;)

yay for being a heritage speaker! :D I sometimes wish my parents spoke a dialect other than Mandarin (or Sichuanese, since that's like Mandarin minus a few tones) so I could know more dialects. :(

Speaking Mandarin is also very good! I wonder if there are people who, say, learn different dialects in China, instead of languages. But probably not.
