cardinal came to visit

silverflight8A very red cardinal came by to visit the lilac bush right outside my window and I didn't have my bird feeder out! I'd taken it in earlier this week when it poured rain. Sorry cardinal, I am a bad host! I promise to put the feeder out tomorrow. The cardinal was extremely red (so red!) and had a very upright crest, and a very sweet song. It was the song that made me turn around and look up from work - it was very different from the usual sparrow chatter.
No pictures, was absorbed in observing the cardinal and not scaring it away. I hope it comes back soon!
