current trivial observations

I am not a fan of updates that radically change appearances/workflow, and I like Windows 7 very much--aesthetically, as an operating system. I know it really well.

But you know what? If Excel on Windows 8 actually windows properly, i.e. when I open two workbooks they show up as two different windows I can manipulate in two separate windows instead of this complete rubbish of "you can totally tile them together! But only in one window. Can't look at both simultaneously unless you use side-by-side function! Can't put them on separate monitors! Alt-F4 closes the entire thing not one workbook!"

then I say, ROLL ON WINDOWS 8.

You can take off the tile option inn Win7 by adjusting the properties of the taskbar. I don't hold with that tile crap either. And Win8 is just visually and operationally terrible.

Alas, the combine option kind of explodes my taskbar (I run a lot of programs simultaneously - I have 10 windows open right now and that's pretty standard) and unfortunately also doesn't let me switch windows. I've tried googling but it seems pretty complicated. Argh.

That's weird. And alt+tab wn't let you switch weither? I have no idea how to fix that, then. :(

I positively SCRINGE when Windows informs me that it is 'updating'!!! not only do i have to wait for hours... I KNOW that it will be totally messed up when I can get in. I have NO idea what Windows does with it's 'updates' but I'm always having to go back to 'restore'...before I can get on line.

SCREAM... I don't think I dare even THINK of trying Windows 8!

Aww. Well I think updates are necessary (for example, my workplace is still on Windows XP - Windows stopped issuing SECURITY UPDATES a year ago! This is really bad!!) but it is irritating to readjust every time. I've definitely done my share of reprogramming keyboard shortcuts to go back to how they used to be, and I've avoided updating Firefox (why must they release version SO fast?!) So I hear you.
