So, today (or was it yesterday that they released the news? Different time zones) China announced that they're taking the University of Calgary off of the list of "accredited universities", because they hosted the Dalai Lama and gave him an honorary degree in the fall of 2009. For me, my first response was: "BWAHAHA!" My second response was: "Oh, the poor international students." I imagine there's a mad amount of negotiation and diplomacy going on; if the U of C is strapped enough for cash to be calling for thousand dollar hikes in tuition, it sure can't afford several hundred students leaving.  It will be interesting to see how this pans out.
