Hello, writer!

OK, just upfront, I'm thrilled that you're my writer. Really! Some of these are pretty rare, so I've always wanted to find people to talk about them...Apologies for finishing this late.

There's, well, there's a lot of Garth Nix. I'm not really sure what happened, except I went on a Garth Nix reading and re-reading spree in the past few months and I love how he does fantasy.

General preferences:
*Adventure stories! I got into fandom because multi-volume tomes were not enough for me. I love fic that takes characters on adventures, or fills in gaps mentioned.
*Missing scenes within the canon, what-if scenarios branching off the canon, perspectives from offscreen characters (especially when timeskips are involved!)
*Other supporting characters involved. Some of these are series, and it's not actually possible to nominate all the people I wanted (or I didn't think they could really carry a story) but I would love to see them involved in the stories.
*Did I mention worldbuilding? I love worldbuilding. One of the reasons I read fantasy, period.

General dislikes:
*To be honest, I'm not in this exchange for the porn. If you can tell the story without explicit sex, I'd prefer that!
*Not a fan of second-person POV and present tense. It's a lot harder for me to immerse myself in those stories just because it's unusual/has other connotations.

Everything said and done, though, these are not binding strictures. I don't have any triggers and I'm always up for a different story! If what I've said just doesn't work, then do your own thing. Some stories just are better with whatever I don't like, and I'd rather you wrote that better story than trying to pretzel yourself fitting into my likes/dislikes :)

Specific fandoms:

The Seventh Tower
Characters requested:
Ebbitt (Seventh Tower)
Tal Graile-Rerem
Malen (Seventh Tower)

OMG THIS SERIES. THIS SERIES. The whole world fascinated me when I read them years ago, and it still does. Tal lives in a tower that uses magic that can make symphonies, construct solid objects, and create nightmares out of light. I can't tell you how cool I find the whole Seven Towers magic, the Aenir powers and the Sunstones. I love worldbuilding so much, and here Nix just hinted at some of the powers and didn't really go into them, and everything in the towers just sounds so cool. Plus there's the shadows--I loved Tal's shadowguard (like how it would revert to the harmless Dattu shape it had been in Aenir) and Ebbitt and Graile's Spiritshadows. And also the rigid divisions of the seven towers fascinates me--Tal's in Orange, but with his father the guardian of the Orange Keystone, I suspect there's some interesting stuff going on there; same goes for Sushin, who was Dark Vizier disguised, according to custom, as a minor ranking shadowmaster in a lowly order. And then there's the Ice. The power of the Crones is fascinating--they seem to not be impeded by piddling things like distance--they help Milla in her nightmare scene, Malen is able to communicate with all the Crones inside the towers.

I'd love to see more exploration of any of those worlds--Ice and the Towers, either before the novels (ooh! What on earth happened to Ebbitt? The books say he was a rising Indigo and then--splat! Red Dimmer. Doesn't stop him from using Indigo though :P) or after, when the worlds have started smashing together.

The Ragwitch
Characters requested:
Any (Anhyvar
Leasel (The Ragwitch)
Lyssa (The Ragwitch)
Paul (The Ragwitch)
Quigin (The Ragwitch))

The Spirit, The Body, The Breath, The Blood. Fantasy that uses the Four Elements tends to get hackneyed, but one of my favourite parts of The Ragwitch is that the magic isn't like that at all. There's a lot unexplained, like Sevaun's water-magic, Quigin's ability to speak to beasts; a lot of the magic is all glossed over. The magi, we know nothing about, except that sometimes there are bees involved and the rest of the time, gardening...I loved that Nix dropped in elements of our world (Tanboule's boat marooned on a mountain! OMG) and at the same time made it clear that it was a separate world.

My favourite parts were definitely the action-adventure and fantasy sides. I nominated Leasel because she was one of those quiet supporting characters to Paul (especially since he couldn't hear her say anything), but she's always in the corner of the narrative, doing little things--retrieving Quigin's poor hat, scouting, or just, you know, being a hare. I also thought it was interesting that Cagael, Master of Beasts, would ask Paul and Quigin about their adventures and then speak for a long time to Leasel--I'd love to see backstory about Quigin and Leasel! Paul, too, was quietly hilarious in his own right, and an adventure with all three would be so much fun. Maybe snuck in the middle of the novel.

Lyssa and Anhyvar! Oh man, when I first read this years ago I shipped Mirren/Anhyvar like you wouldn't believe (I ran out of slots to nominate, that's what happened.) Any fic about them will probably make me cry with happiness. I wasn't as fond of the parts where Julia just floats in the Ragwitch's mind, but I really liked her adventure in the Ragwitch/Anhyvar's memory, and Lyssa and Anhyvar and Mirren's involvement. Lyssa and also her sisters seem to have the ability to 'become human', although without destroying their tree--we see Paul being led away from the Patchwork King by one of Lyssa's sisters. From what Lyssa's done, I wonder if the rowans tend to lend aid? After all, rowan seems to be a symbol of protection--perhaps that's where Paul's world got the belief about it.

The Old Kingdom
Characters requested:
Sabriel (Old Kingdom)
Touchstone (Old Kingdom)
Lirael (Old Kingdom)
Mogget (Old Kingdom)
Sanar (Old Kingdom)
Ryelle (Old Kingdom)
Kibeth | The Disreputable Dog

I don't even know where to start. OK, ships: I like the ships in Holehallow, but mostly Sabriel/Touchstone. Torrigan. (Man that looks funny.) Like always, I love the worlds--the Old Kingdom especially. Lirael's--sorry, the Clayr's--glacier sounds exactly like the sort of place that'd be like a warren of hidden and forgotten passageways. We know that the Library is a massive, often dangerous place, full of forgotten stuff. Can you imagine the Clayr's home, built into a glacier? It's not like a conventional building, where you'd see this suspicious bulge that'd indicate a secret room. Sanar and Ryelle we only get to see glimpses of, but they seem to be pretty powerful and have some interesting positions with the Clayr; they're young in Sabriel but by Lirael's time are included in the meeting with Touchstone and Sabriel. I'd love to see more about the Watch or the workings of the Clayr through them!

There's a timeskip between Sabriel and Lirael and I would love fic about Sabriel and Touchstone's relationship. He has to pick up a kingdom that's been missing a regent for twenty years, Sabriel has to deal with the fallout of Kerrigor...there's a lot in the little phrase "17 years later", and fic about them during that pause would be amazing. Them trying to restore the kingdom, travelling around the Old Kingdom, Sabriel's Abhorsen duties...so much is just skipped over!

I love the Disreputable Dog's sheer disregard for rules and her cheerfulness. "I'll just grow wings!", oh my god! I suspected she was more than a simple dog construct, like Lirael did, but the reveal about Kibeth was a complete shock. No wonder she recognized Astarael. In the same way, I loved Mogget's sarcasm, even though clearly Lirael, Sabriel, and Sam were doing the best they could. His perspective as Yrael was really interesting, but mostly I just enjoyed his personality.

This is a fandom where I'd love to see adventure and worldbuilding, characters interacting, you name it.

The Seven Realms
Characters requested:
Micah Bayar
Hayden Fire Dancer
Raisa ana'Marianna
Han Alister

OK, I admit I have a soft spot for Micah Bayar. He reminds me, incidentally, of Draco Malfoy and the terrible soft spot I also have for him. I'd like to see how the Bayars seem to operate (since all Han sees is that one time he kind of eavesdrops). They are so awful together...but I totally shipped Raisa/Micah in a vaguely twisted way. Nothing like a good kidnapping to make a relationship interesting...

Fire Dancer and Han--I would absolutely love to see fic about them adventuring. I love their friendship so much, and just the way that they both don't quite belong in either world. And Dancer's relationship with Cat! I do ship Raisa and Han, but the canon's pretty sufficient for me there--I'm not necessarily looking for fic about them.
