Agent Carter S2E9 (A Little Song and Dance)
30 mins till last ep, typing as fast as possible. I'm scared for the last episode. How will they resolve everything? (They will not, dang it).
*I'm with Michael - I understand why Peggy is a little angry with Michael, but she really doesn't seem like someone who wanted to stand aside.
*I admit I totally laughed throughout the dance sequence - it's so elaborate and inexplicable - but I also enjoyed it a lot. Yay I'm so glad to see Angie around again! I think I remember Peggy's dress of that shape to be purple, nice to see it's a slight twist. Peggy's unconscious dream version of Daniel is him in a sweatervest! hahahahaha I love it. I was distracted trying to see if I could recognize anyone in the backing troupe but I don't think there's anyone in there. Pity - thought I might recognize Ana in there or something.
*I quite enjoy the deconstructed set, like the L&L Automat sign (the green honestly makes me think of that creepy hotel that that Leviathan operative was typing from though) and and random revolving doors and then stage.
*Argument between Peggy and Jarvis painful but necessary, I think (and at least they did it fast). I really enjoy their relationship and how Peggy has support from Jarvis; this hurt to watch. But I'm on Peggy's side here. The urge for vengeance is one thing but what about the result of your actions? Do they actually benefit you or do they just temporarily assauge some mental pain that you could solve in other ways (i.e. why are you not by Ana's side helping her?!) Blah, I hate male plotlines like this where they're always hell-bent on revenge no matter the consequences or the thoughts of any of the people they're supposedly concerned about.
*The BLUFFING, I enjoyed that very much. Of Daniel, Jack and Samberly, I would pick Jack to play the bluff every single time, lol - neither of the other two are anywhere close. Very tense with the corrupt SSR agents - definitely things teetered on the knife edge for a second there. I also felt so much anxiety with Masters & the other three - can't believe Masters didn't see through it? I guess Masters felt he had effectively erased the wall-safe incident from Jack's mind and that Jack wasn't against him.
*PEGGY STORMING IN AND THEN BEATING UP VERNON. I enjoy that no one tried to stop her and/or could react in time...and that Daniel & Jack heard the confrontation and immediately ran over and were like Peggy no! (And the fact she was doing it because she thought he had locked them up somewhere/killed them). That's pretty tasty.
*What on earth does Vernon have on Peggy? Just influence that he could use to destroy her credibility the way anyone in the 1940s could?
*It's so hard to tell sometimes with Jack but the play with Frost (I want a seat on the council) is one that would make sense to her - she wants power and doesn't see another way to get it.
*Jason's "You're very stubborn, aren't you" - I think this is the conclusion of many people about Peggy :D
*I also really enjoyed Jack turning Vernon over to Frost. He deserves it. He got to hear that his protege is willing to leave him to die at Whitney Frost's hands... And again, Jack tries to do the right thing (though he's left Jason behind to die, admittedly) and is foiled again. I love that his immediate reaction is first that the transmitter is broken, then that Peggy has interfered, and then he runs off to find out what she's done.
*That last confrontation. OMG. Watching Peggy pull the gun on Jack is just terrifying, because she would.
OH GOD AND THEN IT ENDS THERE

THEN THAT'S IT, WTF. They couldn't have been meaning to kill Jack, surely? Or not? I think they were talking about how the third season was going to be set in London, which would've been fun, but I don't know how they would have gotten her there. (Postwar cleanup? That was going on for a while....) And supposedly Michael, her brother, was going to be in the Winter Soldier program or something, IDK, which I didn't like because that makes Peggy's story too much like Steve's. But who knows, really. I keep wondering if they would really have kept the idea of her not founding SHIELD until the very end of the show, or if she'd be building it in little bits all along....
There's an Agent Carter guest actor in the last season of Agents of Shield, but no Peggy, which just seemed so wrong since it was her organization. Maybe, maybe, maybe, Disney Plus will bring her back (I don't know how the rights stuff works). AC didn't do that well ratings-wise, but it got great reviews and she still has a passionate fanbase. I really hoped Peggy was going to go back and forth from the show to movies. It looks like they're doing that more on Disney Plus, though....I'm trying so hard not to be unhappy about the fact that we're NOW getting more diversity and no more stupid Ike Perlmutter, and it's too late for all the Phase One people I love. Oh well. It was such a little gem of a show!

SOOO after the episode I went and looked and there was interviews where they talk about "ATTEMPTED ASSASSINATION" and stuff about Michael Carter being in the 3rd season (also not dead - implications for the M. Carter file?!) I didn't hear the part about Winter Soldier program, that's interesting...they've already got the Zola part hinted at in S1. I'd really have liked to see her make/mold SHIELD.
I heard the thing with Daniel in AoS but I don't really feel like watching all of AoS. Maybe I'll break down and watch the episodes Daniel's in. Me too, I'm still pretty mad about how Marvel's been about the women. I care a LOT about Natasha and Peggy and Jane and a lot of the female characters from the Infinity Saga and I want to see them again!! I honestly wonder if there are more plans for Peggy - I know Atwell is going to be voice acting for the What If, playing Peggy!Cap. Daniel is a smaller character so they could whisk him off to space and play with his fate, but Peggy is a lot more central. I really hope we can see more of her and I really just love this setting :( I don't really want to see Peggy circa the 90s or whatever. I like this one, dangit!
Stupid TV and ratings :((((

Angie would have been so fun in L.A.! I really missed all the connections Peggy had to other women in S1 -- of course Dottie and Whitney were in S2, but they seemed kind of disconnected from her. And ANA was great, but then her storyline went south, argh.

I missed THAT part, WHOAH

Now I don't remember where I heard the Winter Soldier part from, but I guess Michael was supposed to have tried to assassinate Jack? Maybe?? (Or I thought it could be Dottie, but I thought we saw men's shoes....I'll have to watch that part again.) I do think they were going to have her bro show up in England, if they were doing an S3. I found the city-hopping a little annoying but all the same Peggy in postwar London? YES PLEASE.
I heard the thing with Daniel in AoS but I don't really feel like watching all of AoS. Maybe I'll break down and watch the episodes Daniel's in.
Oh you totally don't need to see the whole thing -- they deal with the black goo, but only as a plot point, in the penultimate season I think, and then he's in the last season, and the last few seasons of Agents of SHIELD were really different. (They were basically doing Agents of SWORD, but couldn't get the name.) Daniel got a good sendoff, but I was like Peggyyyyyy!

Oh man, I felt nearly burned out on MCU for good after they killed off Natasha. I wasn't expecting that at all (dummy me, especially after Infinity War and GAMORA) and I felt really heartbroken. Jane's going to be turning up in Thor 4, I think, and I forgot about Peggy doing Peggy Cap in What If! That series looks so fun, and What If comics are one of my favorite parts of Marvel. (There's a great one where Natasha lifts Thor's hammer, yessss.) Maybe we'll see Peggy again in the multiverse! I would love that.

The black goo definitely seems very Cosmic MCU to me - I can see how it would fit the Agents of SHIELD well.
You are so not alone about Natasha. WTF was that. Tony Stark's ridiculous funeral - barely a scene about Natasha. So ridiculous that so many of the permanent deaths are the women, it's coming not exactly out of deliberate misogyny but the more insidious problem that the stories are still centered around men, so of course women get killed or whatever for the men's journeys.
Yes - I'm interested in what happens for Jane!! I'm especially heartened as Natalie Portman has some clout and would have (did) walk when the story was really bad, so I hope her story can be more Jane centered at least.
Look, we have the Time Stone. PLEASE TIME TRAVEL BACK TO 1940. All the things said about cost of staging a period piece - you are Disney and have more money than you know what to do with!!
