I would love to know what kind of aesthetically pleasing things a species that doesn't know what colours are but knows what texture everything is from across the room builds. ('Ryland tries to explain colours' was one of my favourite bits, along with the horrifying creeping realisation that of course Rocky has no way of knowing what radiation is, let alone that it's dangerous and stars emit it.)

It was such a weird list! I still haven't managed to finish Maker of Djinn, which is a shame since I really enjoyed the shorter stuff in the same universe.
